Why Magu was detained for 10 days – Presidency finally opens up
The presidency on Wednesday, July 15, explained why the suspended Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s former acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu, was detained for a prolonged period of time.
Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to President Muhamadu Buhari, stated that Magu was detained for that long so as to prevent possible tampering of documents which are need in the ongoing investigation by the presidential panel, Channels TV reports.
Adesina also noted that being that the panel had sat for weeks over the probe, it could point out the need for the embattled EFCC’s former boss to present himself before it.
The presidential media aide said: “it is against this backdrop that President Muhammadu Buhari gave the panel the mandate to invite Magu to answer to the allegations against him.”
