Reno Omokri shads Peter Obi in recent tweet

Remo Omokri, a former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, recently took a jab at Peter Obi, the Labor Party's presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, in a tweet. This followed news that Obi was detained at Heathrow Airport by immigration officers, who questioned him about an alleged impersonation issue after he arrived from Nigeria on Good Friday, April 7, 2023.

While going through the airport procedures, officials handed Obi a detention notice and asked him to step aside. Diran Onifade, a spokesman for the Labour Party’s Campaign Council, described the situation as unusual for someone who had lived in the UK for over a decade.

In his tweet, Omokri stated, "I've traveled to Nigeria twice under General Buhari and twice under President Tinubu. This should end the false claims by some people, especially from a failed movement with a struggling leader, that I can't visit Nigeria. I can travel in and out of the UK without ever being detained at Heathrow or anywhere else because my hands are clean. Can all politicians in Nigeria, especially one who likes to spread fake statistics, say the same? There’s no country I can’t visit when I want to. While it's not right to boast, allow me this small pride: I am one of the few Nigerians who served the country without getting my hands dirty. If anyone has accusations or proof against me—like owing money or taking someone's partner—please come see me at the Transcorp Hilton with the police or any law enforcement. I've let the reception know I’m open to visitors. If you can’t, then please stay silent!"
