Nigerians And Ghanaians Clash As Twitter Announces Africa Headquarters In Ghana

Some Nigerians and Ghanaians have clashed on social media after the owner of Twitter Jack announced its intentions to establish its Africa headquarters in Ghana.

According to Twitter, the decision to choose Ghana as its Africa’s headquarters is because it is “a champion for democracy, supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the Open Internet of which Twitter is also an advocate”.

“Furthermore, Ghana’s recent appointment to host The secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area aligns with our overreaching goal to establish a presence in the region that will support our efforts to improve and tailor our service across Africa…….”.

Social media users have reacted to the piece of news. A Nigerian Twttier user by name Duke of Ibadan wrote:

Jack decided to have Twitter HQ in Ghana because that’s where Wizkid resides.”

Another user named, “What if Jack of Twitter wants to pay his staff with cryptocurrency? The CBN policy is already an erection killer. You people don’t understand how some policies in Nigeria can discourage foreign businesses from setting up in Nigeria.”

“If they gave Jack the offer to come build his first Twitter Africa headquarters in Lagos, he will probably consider it. But he remembered this is Nigeria: A country where one lunatic agency can wake up one day carry red paint and write capital X on the Twitter building in Ikeja.”

Some Ghanaians have also reacted to the news on Twitter….
