Naira Marley arraigned before Abuja Mobile Court for June Concert
Nigerian famous musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, was this morning August 7, 2020, brought before an Abuja mobile court for violating COVID-19 lockdown protocols and directives back in June 13 2020.
The FCT Administration filed a four-count charge against him for flouting the presidential ban on Interstate travels and public gatherings and also hosting a concert in Jabi Lake Mall in Abuja, in clear violation of COVID-19 directives on June 13.
Naira Marley flew in a chartered plane meant for a Lagos judge to the Federal Capital Territory for the concert.
The airline company was also sanctioned by the Federal government.
The charges are being read to him under tight security at the Eagle Square, venue of where the mobile court is sitting.
Naira Marley pleaded guilty and the presiding magistrate Idayat Akanni fined him N200,000.
24 hours ago, Naira Marley was also arrainged before a mobile court in Lagos also fined him and N100,00 for leaving the state during the loclockdown
Some Nigerians are of the opinion that the sanction and charge against the musician was too light and that more strict punishment shoulf have been given to him for endangering lives of Nigerians.
