Members of Parliament (MP)of Ghana’s political party National Democratic Party (NDC) boycotts the 2020 State of Nations Address of the ruling party, National Patriotic Party (NPP).
The President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akuffo Addo presented to the Parliament House of Ghana His achievement and what is in the pipeline for the country’s progress. However, the MP’s of NDC walked out of the Parliament House and didn’t listen to the address of the State by the President of Ghana.
The Mp’s of NDC dressed in black and chanted a portion of the Ghanaian national anthem – “…and help us to resist oppressors rule…” as they leave the Parliament House. They left behind a white cardboards with a bold writing on them indicating that they want a free and fair election.
This is the first time an opposition party has displayed such an act in the history of Ghanaian politics. The majority party however described this behavior as childish and urged the President to continue with the State of Nations Address.
