Manchester United and Napoli negotiate a deal for Scott McTominay

Manchester United and Napoli have come to an agreement for Napoli to sign Scott McTominay. The proposed agreement is contingent upon everyone agreeing to the player terms. The Italian side has agreed to pay United around €30 million (£25.4 million; $33.6 million), and United will receive a cut of any future sales. McTominay's Old Trafford deal expires in 2025, but United has the option to extend it by an additional year, so negotiations with the 27-year-old still need to be concluded.

McTominay is an academy graduate, thus his transfer would be "pure profit," which makes this a crucial position for United's adherence to UEFA and Premier League financial regulations. The sale of McTominay would help them activate Manuel Ugarte, who is the replacement they have lined up for Paris Saint-Germain. Sporting director Giovanni Manna of Napoli has had lengthy discussions in London and Manchester as the Serie A team attempts to sign Brighton & Hove Albion's Billy Gilmour and Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku, a Scotland international. McTominay scored ten goals in 43 games during his finest goalscoring season in 2023–2024. With eight goals scored for Scotland since March 2023, he has also increased his goal percentage.
