A young man, identified as Suraju Alabi has died after attacking the Palace of Akire in Osun State, Nigeria in a plot to release a friend held under arrest in the palace.
Suraju Alabi who was accompanied by other gang members arrived the palace of Akire about 1pm on Sunday, August 2, 2020.
On arrival at the palace, there was a clash between Suraju Alabi’s gang members and the vigilante officers guarding the palace.
The fierce battle resulted in injuries from both parties, who had to be rushed to different hospitals.
Suraju Alabi was later declared dead at a private hospital in Apomu, a neighbouring town in Isokan Local Government Council Area of the State after sustaining serious injuries during the clash of both groups.
It was further gathered from the Police Public Relations Officer that the Osun State Police Command has deployed Policemen to the Palave and its environs to hinder and backlash of the incident and maintain peace and calm in the commumity while other investigations arre carried out.
The public relations officer onbehalf of the Commissioner of Police in Osun State also added that investigations carried out will ensure that the perpetrators of the crime will be brought to book.
