Once Worked As Bricklayer To Buy Filmmaking Equipment – Itele D Icon
Award-winning Nollywood actor, writer, producer, and director Ibrahim Yekini popularly known as Itele D Icon has disclosed some of the things he had to do to buy some movie equipment for work.
Itele in an interview with Mobola Sadiq opened up about his life as a boxer and how he struggled to make a name in the movie industry.
Herecounted meeting up with a man called Folorunsho Adejobi who introduced him into the movie industry in 1997.
“In 1997, I met a man called Folorunsho Adejobi and told him that I would like to join his acting academy.
I stayed with him for three years and graduated in 2000. I went on to produce my first movie in 2004.
Acting has been a blessing to me. I discovered that acting was my path and I am passionate about it” he said.
Itele disclosed some of the advantages he has enjoyed as an actor and how his life has changed.
According to him, acting has given him an identity and the name which has made him win contracts.
He also disclosed that acting has opened many doors for him and has taken him to places.
“Being an actor has some interesting advantages. Firstly, it gives one an identity.
People trust me with contracts because I am a known face in the industry. Acting has opened many doors for me.
However, everything with advantages also has disadvantages. My profession has made me very cautious of where I go and how I comport myself.
It is so bad that when a motorist hits my car, I cannot argue because passers-by may recognize me” he added.
