Mark Zuckerberg centibillionaire

Following reports by Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg’s fortune has topped $100bn for the first time which has elevated him to be among members of the world’s centibillionaires’ club.

A centibillionaire is simply someone whose net worth has reached the $100billion mark.

Mark Zuckerberg, who founded Facebook in 2004 and owns a 13% stake in the company, gained about US$22 billion this year alone.

Facebook’s shares surged by 6% on investor optimism over the news that the company plans to launch Instagram Reels, a rival to the famous video-sharing application called TikTok.

As a result of US President Donald Trump ban on US companies from dealing with ByteDance and Tencent, the Chinese owners of TikTok and the WeChat messaging service, Facebook has decided to take hold of the opportunity by introducing the Instagram Reels application.

According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mark Zuckerberg has now joined Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder, and Bill Gates, Microsoft’s founder, as the only people who have centibillionaire status.

In 2015, Mark Zuckerberg announced that he will give away 99% of whatever he earns from his Facebook stake.
