Chelsea Football Club current manager Frank Lampard has cried out to the Premier League Board to give his side a fair start to the new season which is supposed to kickstart in mid-September.
Lampard exclaimed that the restart date is too-early for his players who are tired as a result of the just concluded 2019/2020 season.
In their last encounter at the FA Cup final, Chelsea lost to Arsenal in a 2-1 defeat at Wembly.
The blues who still have a Bayern Munich side to face in the Champions League with a 3 goal deficit at the second leg of the round of 16.
If Chelsea is defeated by Bayern Munich, they have just 35 days before the start of the new premier league season.
“Even in the worst-case sceneri0, we don’t go through against Bayern, the 12th feels too early for me for the players to start playing again”
“The players need a break. That is why we have pulled two hamstrings and had players pull out of the game before this.”
The Chelsea boss is concerned majorly because of the injury problems facing his side presently. In the FA Cup clash with Arsenal, Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta, Pedro, and Christian Pulisic were injured. No date has been revealed as to how long they will be out.
Frank Lampard, Chelsea Manager also expressed his major concern, imploring the Premier League to push back the resumption date so as to allow all teams kick start the new season on a level playing field.
“I would like to think the Premier League would look seriously at that. Hopefully, they give us a fair start next season. We deserve it as a Premier league Club competing in the Champions League”.
