Burna Boy Believes He Would Have Won A Grammy Years Ago, If Not For ‘Bad Leadership

Singer, Burna Boy, who grabbed his first Grammy award a few days ago believes that he would have won a Grammy years ago if the country had better leaders.

According to him, if the country had leaders who “took the youth seriously” and certain infrastructure were in place, he would have won the Grammy in 2013 or 2014 and not in 2021.

Burna Boy was speaking with BBC Africa last Saturday also adding that he is the “stone that the builders refused”

when it came to music and he was very relieved when he won the award as he believes he “deserved it.”

“I was hoping a situation wouldn’t happen where I didn’t get what I deserved“, he said.

Burna went on to state that, he hopes his experience inspires others to keep pushing and believe that, they can succeed regardless of the odds.

He said, he saw his Grammy win happening in 2012 but the music struggle was bigger than him.

“In the end, we are in an environment that don’t believe in itself before even thinking of believing in you,” he added.
