Barking at Davido won’t fix Nigeria – Ruggedman
Ruggedman defends Davido’s comments on Nigeria’s economy, urging the government to address the hardships instead of fueling misplaced outrage.
Veteran rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has spoken out in defense of Afrobeats superstar Davido, who recently faced backlash over his remarks about Nigeria’s struggling economy.
During a podcast interview, Davido had warned Americans against relocating to Africa, specifically Nigeria, citing the country’s dire economic state. His comments sparked widespread criticism, but Ruggedman insists the singer was merely stating the obvious.
Taking to his X handle, Ruggedman urged critics to focus on the real issue—the need for government intervention to fix the economy. He emphasized that attacking Davido won’t solve the hardships Nigerians are enduring.
"Ok, Davido has said what he said. Moving forward, the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation. The hardship is too much," he wrote.
Ruggedman’s remarks have reignited the conversation on the need for tangible solutions to Nigeria’s economic struggles rather than misplaced outrage.
