Bandits Attack Mosque During Jummat Prayers in Katsina, Disrupt Farmland Access

Bandits attacked the Dan-Ali ward in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday, disrupting Jummat prayers. The attackers stormed the mosque during the prayer session and began shooting randomly, forcing worshippers to flee for safety.

“We were in the middle of Jummat prayer when the gunfire started, and everyone ran for their lives. We couldn't complete our prayers. Thankfully, the local Security Watch Corps chased the bandits away,” said a resident of the area.

Another local, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident and called for stronger security measures. "We need more security forces because the bandits are making life difficult in our communities," he said.

He added that for over a week, bandits have stopped farmers from accessing their lands in Dan-Ali and nearby areas like Gwarjo, Dangane, Tudun, Tasha Kadanya, and Tasha Biri. Many farmers have been kidnapped, and others are too afraid to go to their farms.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, was contacted for a statement but had not responded as of the time this report was filed.
