The British-Nigerian rapper and singer, Little Simz wins the Best International flow at this years BET Hip Hop Awards.
Little Simz was nominated in the same category of Best International Flow with Nigerian Ladipoe, South Africa Nasty C, Xama from Brazil, Laylow from France, Gazo from France and Dave from UK.
Little Simz, with a birth name Simbiatu “Simbi” Abisola Abiola Ajikawo is a British-Nigerian rapper, singer and actress of Yoruba heritage. Following the release of four mixtapes and five EPs, she released her debut album A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons on 18 September 2015 through her independent label, AGE: 101 Music. The album entered the UK R&B Albums Chart at number 20 and the UK Independent Albums Chart at number 43. She released her second studio album Stillness in Wonderland in 2016. Her third studio album Grey Area (2019) won Best Album at both the Ivor Novello Awards and the NME Awards as well as being nominated for the Mercury Prize.
She is the first British female to headline three nights at the O2 Academy Brixton which is is an internationally renowned, Grade II listed, award- winning concert venue hosting live music, club nights, comedy shows and more.
She describes her music as rap and experimental. Simz has performed alongside Estelle, Tinie Tempah, Ms. Dynamite and Kano.
Simz has performed at Rising Tide, iluvlive, Industry Takeover (Urban Development) Hackney Empire, Somerset House and the House of Lords. She also performed at the BBC 1Xtra Prom 2015 at the Royal Albert Hall, alongside a full orchestra led by Jules Buckley.
Her fourth album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert (2021) received critical acclaim. This album got her nominated for the Best International flow at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards which she has won.
