Amid rumours of his exit from Juventus, Matthijs de Ligt release Clause of €150m will be Valid Starting Summer 2022
Matthijs de Ligt has a release clause into his contract with Juventus and this is why Raiola spoke about his future. It will be valid starting from summer 2022 for €150m – Juventus are still hoping to keep him.
Matthijs de Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola said his client could be on the move next summer as the Juventus centre-half attracts serious interest from the likes of Chelsea
Matthijs de Ligt insists he is happy at Juventus despite claims from his agent that he could leave Turin at the end of the season.
Mino Raiola said his client could be on the move next summer as he attracts interest from Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel’s men have been linked with the centre-half after a deal for Jules Kounde broke down during the previous window.
And if that’s the case, they will have certainly taken notice of Raiola’s latest comments surrounding De Ligt’s future.
He told Tuttosport:
Matthijs de Ligt is one of the best centre-backs in Europe. He could leave Juventus at the end of the season. Transfer market sometimes works like this.”
But De Ligt hasn’t suggested he is looking for a new club and insists he is “happy” at Juve.
He recently said:
I feel good, I feel good with Allegri too. He has a lot of attention for the defensive phase, it’s very important, I worked a lot and I’m happy.”
Meanwhile, Tuchel has opened up on their links with Harry Kane in the summer as Chelsea look set to face Spurs on Sunday.
The German insists he never told the Blues hierarchy to buy the England captain and that Romelu Lukaku was their number one priority.
We never had a list with his name on it and I never went to Marina [Granovskaia] to tell her to buy him.
There are many people around players, their agents and advisors and people in between, so we had some information from these people but it was never that close.”
Tuchel reckons the pair are completely different players, but two of the best strikers around.
The two are very different. Romelu plays a bit higher up the pitch and is a bit more physical, while Harry Kane is someone who loves to drop into number 10 positions and pockets of space, to turn and assist.
He is fantastic in conversion and there are some players around him who deliver well and can also be decisive like Son Heung-min, who he has a superb partnership with. We need to focus on how to defend, where to close him down, maybe close the deliveries down, because once he has the ball he is one of the most dangerous guys in the world at finishing attacks.
