Dayot Upamecano Confirms Transfer Talks Amid Manchester United Links

RB Leipzig star defender, Dayot Upamecano has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

The defender has confirmed that he has held talks with clubs regarding a possible move in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are just one of many sides linked with a move for the 21-year-old following an excellent season for RB Leipzig in Germany.

Upamecano shone as Leipzig reached the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history and has been rewarded with both a new contract at club level as well as his first call-up up to the France national team.

United are still prioritising attacking additions in the summer transfer window but are not ruling themselves out from signing a new defender if the right opportunity comes along.

Upamecano is believed to have a release clause in his contract which could see him leave for just €42million next summer, with interest expected to be high following his possible involvement at the rescheduled European Championships.

A potential buyer would arguably get better value for money if they moved for the 21-year-old this summer and Upamecano has revealed that talks have been held with other clubs about a possible move.

“I extended my contract with Leipzig because I feel good with my team-mates,” he said. “My coach is giving me confidence. He’s learning as well, but he gives me confidence and it improves my level.

“I’ve been in Leipzig for more than three years, I feel good. I’ve been in demand, I talked to some clubs, it’s true, but I’m not in a hurry.

“We’ll see what happens in the future.”
