As protests continue to spark in different parts of the country, the African Media Team has recieved a report of an ongoing protest in Katsina state over the insecurity in the region.
Angry residents of Turare, Marke and Dogon Ruwa villages in Dutsin-ma Local Government Area of Katsina State on the 6th of August 2020 came out in their mass and blocked the Dutsin-ma – Kankara highway to register their displeasure on the state of insecurity in their villages and the negligence of the government to intervene in the horrible situation.
The angry youths who came out in their numbers, placed logs of wood, stones and tyres on the highway, preventing travellers from commuting. From the pictures, smoke can be seen in the area as the youths went on to burn tires and other materials.
The youths say they are tired of the incessant killings in the area.
You can recall that Katsina and Kaduna state has been severely attacked by bandits in recent periods. These attacks have lead to the ongoing protest in Katsina State.
Hundreds of lives and properties have been lost as a result of the attacks by bandits.
On Wednesday, August 5, the state governor, Aminu Masari, met with President Buhari to discuss the declining security situation in the state.
